For 25 years, Full Circle Dance Company has been creating powerful, thought-provoking dance right here in Baltimore. This city has always been more than our backdrop — it’s been our partner, our inspiration, and our stage.
To mark this milestone, we gathered along the waterfront for a special anniversary photo shoot with Baltimore photographer Brion McCarthy. The result: stunning images that capture not only our dancers but also the spirit of Baltimore — bold, diverse, and ever rising.
Guided by Artistic Director Donna L. Jacobs and Associate Director Liz Pelton, our company brings together artists ranging in age, representing many cultures, backgrounds, and stories. Together, we embody what it means to be rooted in tradition and rising toward the future.
This is just the beginning of our anniversary season. From a photo book in the works to our 25th Anniversary concerts at the Baltimore Museum of Art on November 9, there is so much more to come.
Here’s to 25 years of dance, one beautiful city, and the community that makes it all possible.

Headlining the season is Rooted and Rising, to be presented on November 9, 2025, at the Baltimore Museum of Art. This show includes She Did That!, a new work inspired by the stories of female ancestors. Based on true stories, drawing on raw material generated through free community workshops, and created collaboratively by multiple choreographers, She Did That! unearths and honors women who cleared paths for future generations.

Also premiering November 9 is To Come Full Circle by longtime artistic collaborator Travis D. Gatling, commissioned to mark the company’s 25th anniversary. Gatling explores the theme of ancestry from a different angle, celebrating the ways diverse, committed artists can together build an enduring creative family. In addition to these two premieres, Rooted and Rising will include some of the very best works created by and for Full Circle since its founding. These include one of the very earliest works by Artistic Director Donna L. Jacobs; a historically grounded work by award-winning
choreographer Hope B. Byers; and an entrancing, virtuosic work by Full Circle veteran Jennifer Seye.
